Unite.

The main goal of VA Powershift is to unite students across the Commonwealth to share ideas, support, and good times in the movement for a clean energy future that neither harms the present nor future success of our environment or economy. Our time together will be spent organizing the statewide environmental coalition formed at National Powershift, the Virginia Alliance for a Cleaner Environment. Trainings and actions will be utilized, empowering student to tackle real world environmental and energy issues in VA.

We all face the threats of climate change. We all face the injustices of strip mining in Appalachia. We all face the fear of poisoned water due to fracking. We all face challenges never met before our time: ones of catastrophic and global scale. But united we will overcome. These are not challenges to be taken lightly, but in full stride.

Join other student leaders from across VA to form the cohesive state network that we need. We’ll be implementing consensus trainings, school breakouts, and group discussions to mold the new Virginia Alliance for a Cleaner Environment. Alliance structure and leadership will be pre-planned before VAPS and during Saturday of the conference. On Sunday, the entire group will decide the final structure and leaders of VACE for the next year.

A kick-back from VAPS ’08
